Prioritization of Urgency of Need for Services (PUNS)
Everyone seeking to receive services for people with developmental disability from the Illinois Department of Human Services either immediately or in the future must first signify such intent by registering in the PUNS database. This database serves as the waiting list for service seekers. CSO conducts a face-to-face meeting with everyone seeking services so as to assist with completing PUNS registration. Once the individual’s name, demographic information, type of services being sought and the time frame by which the services are needed are entered into PUNS, the information are transmitted to the State.
At its sole discretion, the State conducts a lottery style selection process. Individuals selected are then notified to contact their PAS/ISSA agencies for further processing. To preview DHS’s PUNS brochure, click here. To sign up for PUNS, call our Intake department at (773) 471-4740.
