KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Special Olympics runner from Kalamazoo qualified for the Boston Marathon.
Julian Borst, 21, dominated in July during the Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle and qualified after running his first ever marathon in Grand Rapids.
Borst finished in the 2018 Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon on Sept. 8 with a time of 2 hours and 54 minutes, which is a six-minute-40-second mile pace.

The qualifying time for the Boston Marathon in his age group is 3 hours and 5 minutes, so there is a good chance that Borst will be able to run in the 2019 Boston Marathon.
Borst finished third in the 2018 Kalamazoo Half-Marathon. He won three gold medals at the Special Olympics USA games in the 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 meter races,
